The Main Window of Word-Hyphen-Vault consists of six main parts:
- The Menu Bar
- The Tool Buttons
- The Word List and Filter Panel
- The Profile Panel
- The Word and Rankings Panel
- The Cruciverb.com Clue Panel
The Menu Bar contains basic word list management operations (New, Open, Save, Save As…, Settings… and Quit)
The Tool Buttons launch different tools available in Word-Hyphen-Vault:
- New Window – Opens a new word list and filter window, allowing you to search for as many different words as you need at the same time
- Import – Opens the Import Wizard, allowing you to quickly add new word lists into your existing Word-Hyphen-Vault Word List.
- Export – Opens the Export Wizard, which allows you to export your Word List into a format that can be used by Crossword Compiler.
- Stats – Opens the Stats Window, which allows you to view different statistics about your Word List’s words.
- Stacks – Opens the Stack Helper, which assists you in building stacks of words [BETA]
The Word List and Filter Panel displays all of the words in your Word List, and allows you to find words using advanced filtering.
The Profile Panel lists and allows you to add and remove Profiles from your Word List.
The Word and Rankings Panel allows you to add, edit, and delete words, and rank them for each Profile. It also displays simple statistics about the word, including the Length, Scrabble Score, and Scrabble Average.
The Cruciverb.com Clue Panel displays the results for the selected word from Cruciverb.com’s clue database. Select the word, then click the Cruciverb button in the Word and Rankings Panel, and the results will display at the bottom of the screen. For more on the Cruciverb.com Clue Panel, see this page.
